Samsung seems to be on a roll of late. The Galaxy M & A series received good response in the Indian market. Samsung has started launching India centric smartphones at reasonable price in order to compete with the Chinese brands. In continuation with the trend, Samsung recently launched the Galaxy M51. Now, Samsung Galaxy M51 could well be the one of the best M Series edition phone launched by the brand till date. Let’s find out more about the smartphone.
The Galaxy M51 is the most expensive M Series phone ever launched but the specification and performance seem to justify the price. Samsung Galaxy M51 houses a humongous 7000 mAh battery along with powerful processor & camera, priced at Rs 24,999/- for 6GB & 128 GB storage. Another variant is available with 8 GB Ram & 128 storage sporting a price tag of Rs 26,999/-. However, during the festive season, it is available for as low as Rs 19,500/- with the help of bank discounts. So one needs to do a bit of research to get the best deal.
Samsung Galaxy M51 is a phone designed for optimum performance. In terms of features offered and price it may still fall short in comparison to Chinese brands. But Galaxy M51 seems to be a step in the right direction.
Build & Design
Build and Design of the phone is decent for the price. The back panel is made up of plastic, ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use. However, it is prone to scratches and smudges, a common issue with plastic build. The 6.67 inch-display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The key point to note is that this phone comes with 7000 mAh battery but still does not feel heavy during use.
Hardware Specifications: Samsung Galaxy M51
Samsung Galaxy M51 is powered by Snapdragon 730G processor along with 6/8 GB Ram and 128 GB storage. In terms of hardware specifications Samsung has done a great job in providing Snapdragon chipset instead of their own Exynos processor. The main USP of this phone is the 7000 mAh battery which can easily last up to 2 days under moderate use.
Phone comes with fast charger in the box. The adapter provided with the phone is a 25-watt charger.
Samsung Galaxy M51 comes with 6.67-inch sAmoled plus Infinity-0 display. The display is crisp which makes for an immersive multimedia experience with good viewing angles. Super Amoled display comes with 60 hz refresh rate but apart from gamers most will fail to observe any major difference during use. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The front camera is a punch hole camera, in sync with the trend of 2020. Quad camera setup is provided on the rear for the camera enthusiasts.
No IP Certification is available on this phone.
Software
Galaxy M51 comes with Android 10 out of the box. Samsung uses the custom One UI. The use interface is smooth and does not lag even while performing some of the intensive tasks.
The phone is also slated to receive software updates. The One UI is a good custom skin. However, one does observe few bloat wares pre-installed.
Camera & Battery Life
The USP of this phone will be the 7000 mAh battery along with the camera provided on the phone. The humongous battery easily provides full day of usage even for heavy user on single charge. The fast charging support allows the phone to charge in just under 3 hours which is acceptable for such a large battery. Galaxy M51 also supports reverse charging. Type-C to Type-C cable is provided in the box.
Camera on this phone is also pretty impressive. The images look crisp with good details level. The rear primary camera is of 64 megapixels (mp) along with wide angle lens, depth and macro lens. The front camera of 32 mp is good for selfies and video recording. Rear Camera performs really well under the normal and artificial lightning conditions. However, I did observe some noise in the images clicked under the night mode. But overall camera performance is good considering the price of the phone.
Overall Verdict: Samsung Galaxy M51
In my opinion this is an awesome phone for less than Rs 20,000/-. Of course, Chinese Brands offer feature rich smartphones at affordable price. But Galaxy M51 is not at all sluggish and ticks all the right boxes. On the downside, the screen refresh rate is restricted to just 60 hz, no IP Certification & Sound Output is little low. But overall the phone delivers in terms of performance along with great battery life.
Individuals looking for branded non-Chinese smartphones may consider Galaxy M51 smartphone. This is a practical phone from the Samsung stable. In terms of price to performance aspect, Galaxy M51 definitely sits on top.
