Xiaomi has launched their eagerly awaited midrange Smartphone Redmi Note 3 in India. The phone was unveiled last week in New Delhi and is slated go on flashsale from 9th March exclusively on Amazon India portal as well as Xiaomi’s own portal. The phone has been making news for quite sometime now and Xiaomi has also left no stone unturned to promote the device. The device comes in 2 variant, the entry level priced at Rs 9,999/- comes with 16 gb internal storage and 2 gb RAM while the one priced at Rs 11,999/- comes with 32gb internal storage and 3gb of RAM. The device has been aggressively priced and will compete against the likes LeEco Le1s, Lenovo Vibe P1 and Huawei Hono 5X.
The phone is backed by the latest Qualcomm chip which is expected to be void of excessive heating, unlike the previous Gen chipset. The version launched in China few months backed sported the Mediatek Helios chipset. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset is much more powerful as compared to the Helios chipset which makes this device very interesting.

Let’s take a closer look at the device:-

Build and Design: The phone is pretty light in my opinion at 164 gm and sports all metal unibody design. The ergonomic design even allows single hand operation with the device. The phone has premium feel to it and is very comfortable to use. It has the fingerprint sensor at the back with very narrow bezels. Overall, the build and design does not give you much scope to complain.

Impressive Battery Life: The device is backed by 4,000/4050 mah battery respectively which is sufficient to last you throughout the day on a single charge. As per the reviews, the battery is well optimized and promises to give more than 5 hours of on screen time.

Boasts of Advanced Features: Apart from Fingerprint Scanner, the phone is powered by other important sensors such as the Gyroscope and Proximity sensor. It also has the IR Blaster which will enable you to control some of your home appliances through the device. The phone also has the fast charging support enabled.

Latest and Powerful Hardware Specifications: The device is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset which promises to offer incredible overall performance and Adreno 510 will be able to handle the graphic intensive games with ease. Device comes 2/3 gb Ram which will surely give you lag free experience.

Decent Camera: The device sports 16 mp rear camera which will capture decent images under good lighting conditions but does tend to struggle under artificial lighting. However, most of the phones in this price range struggle to give you the best camera experience. So you can’t really compare about it. The front camera is also good at this price point.

Software: This is one aspect where Xiaomi needs to be prompt in providing latest Android OS update. They do roll out upgrades at regular intervals but not necessarily OS updates. This device runs on Android Lollipop with the custom MiUi 7 on top, which is a decent interface but does take up fair bit of memory. We can hope for Marshmallow update soon.

After Sales Support: Another area of improvement is in the after sales service. I feel they have improved over a period of time but they need to upgrade their support even more to provide the end users with best possible support.

Overall Verdict: It is really very hard to find any major flaw on this device barring few minor knit pickings here and there. The device is reasonably priced and offers true value for money. Although it is pretty similar to LeEco Le1s but I will give a slight edge to Redmi Note 3 based on better battery life, overall form factor and enhanced end user experience.
