Samsung recently slashed the price of Galaxy S3 Neo. The specifications on this phone really make it an attractive buy at this new price. I won’t do a full review of this device as it is a pretty old device by Smartphone Industry standards. It was launched early last year but with a very high price tag of around Rs 25,000/- ($ 400 approx) at that point of time. I strongly feel the present price of Rs12,499 ($ 200 approx) available on Flipkart is pretty much acceptable in present market and specifications on this phone justify the new price.

Now let’s look at the reasons to buy this phone:-

Samsung Branding: For brand conscious people one of the most important reasons to look at this device is the fact that it comes from a reputed manufacturer. Customer Care Service of Samsung is also pretty good and works in favor of the device.

Decent Hardware Specifications: Hardware Specifications are quite similar to Moto G2 as is the price. In fact this device has 1.5 Gb of RAM which makes it slightly better in terms of performance. In my opinion for a Mid range phone from a Tier-1 brand the specs are very decent. Internal Storage of 16 gb along with micro SD card support of 64 gb is quite impressive for a phone at this price. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and Adreno 305 GPU make it a competent device for gamers as well.

Good Camera and Decent Battery Life: Samsung does offer good cameras on its phones and this one is no different. The camera on this device is pretty good and performs much better when compared to its nearest rival the MotoG2. Battery Life will also suffice most of the users and will last you a full working day under normal use.

Now let’s look at the reasons to avoid this device:-

Update to Android Lollipop not Assured: Android L update is not assured on this device and going by norms set by Samsung chances of this device getting the Android L update looks pretty bleak. Since most of the devices are getting the Android L update end users will like to use the latest Android OS on their phone. I feel this may turn off some of buyers. In fact it runs on Android Jellybean and you need to upgrade to Android Kitkat.

Same Old Design and Feel: The build and design of the phone does not look too impressive. It does resemble the S3 in many ways but nothing inspiring. In fact in my opinion the design of the phone looks pretty boring. Samsung could have been a bit more innovative with the design of the phone.

Overall Impression

In my opinion apart from the few cons which I have mentioned the phone does look pretty attractive at this new price. For brand conscious people it could be a good deal but you do have Moto G2 and Samsung’s own Galaxy Grand Prime which will compete with this device.
But the highlighting factor for me is the 1.5 Gb Ram as I do feel that apart from the processor it is the next most important component which impacts the performance of a device.
As far as the performance is concerned I don’t think most of you will not face many issues with the phone and user experience promises to be a pleasant one.
