Lenovo owned Motorola has finally launched the Moto X4 in India. The phone had already been launched globally earlier, in Berlin. However, the Indian launch got delayed by couple of months.  The phone will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and also Moto Hubs. Moto X4 will go on sale from midnight today itself. The phone starts from Rs 20,999/-for base variant, thereby making it a premium mid range smartphone. The phone comes with new Snapdragon chipset along with some additional features.

The top end variant with 4GB Ram and 64 GB storage has been priced at Rs 22,999/-.

Hardware Specifications

The phone is powered by the new Snapdragon 630 chipset, Octa Core A53 processors clocked at 2.2 ghz (4 cores @ 2.2 ghz and 4 cores @ 1.8 ghz) along with Adreno 508 GPU. The phone has two variant, 3 GB Ram/32 GB storage and 4GB Ram/64 storage, along with provision for storage expansion via SD Card up to 2TB. Speaking about the camera, it has dual autofocus rear shooter, 12 megapixel primary lens with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4 micron pixels, while the secondary lens is ultra wide angle 8 megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 1.12 micron pixel. The front camera is 16 megapixel shooter with flash support, f/2.0 aperture and 1 micron pixel. The battery provided is 3,000 mah with turbo charge (fast charging) support via Type C port.

However, Moto X4 misses out on bezel less 18:9 aspect ratio display, as it sports the standard 16:9 format with 5.2 inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, full HD display along with 424 ppi density. The phone comes with metal and glass body. It is available in two color variant, Super Black and Sterling Grey.

The finger print scanner is placed below the display.

One of the highlights of the phone is the IP 68 certification which makes it a water and dust resistance smartphone. At the moment, it is very hard to find to phones with such certifications in this price range.

Features

In terms of features too the phone looks impressive. As it comes with Stock Android experience and is assured of the Oreo update later. The phone supports Google Voice Assistant along with Alexa Voice assistant support inbuilt (when available in India).

The presence of Bluetooth 4.2 ensures that it can share audio with 4 devices.

The phone comes with most of the basic sensors and features available on the other Motorola devices. The gesture functionality has also been retained. However, the Moto Mods is not supported by Moto X4.

In terms of network and connectivity, the phone does come with 4G, VoLTE support out of the box. It has dual nano sim slots (hybrid).

Opinion

Motorola has been pretty good with the pricing as it comes with improved hardware specifications and pure Android experience. The IP 68 certification is also an added advantage with this phone. In my opinion, the starting price of Rs 20,999/- is decent for the offering.
