LeEco recently announced their latest midrange smartphone Le2 in India. Le2 is up for sale from 28th June,’16 through Le portal as well as Flipkart, Individuals would have to register on the portal to be eligible for the flashsale. I guess, initially for the first month or so the device will be available only through flashsale after which it will be available for open sale.
LeEco enjoyed fair amount of success with its predecessor Le1S and would look to replicate the same with this device. But I’m not very sure about the quantum of success they will achieve as you already have good number of equally potent devices in this price bracket which are equally impressive.
The Le2 is priced at Rs 11,999/- as it will directly compete with the likes of Redmi Note 3 which too is similarly priced along with other devices such as the ZukZ1 and Moto G4 Plus. The phone does look impressive on paper and hopefully will back it up in terms of real performance too.

Build and Display: The build is identical to that of its predecessor and it is very difficult to identify apart from the minor color variation. The phone comes with unibody metal design and is fairly light weighing just 153 gms. The finger print sensor is placed at the back and bezels are very thin which makes it pretty compact even though it is a 5.5 inch device. The all round metal body does lend premium feel to it but compared to its predecessor feels a tad hollow, one feels Le could have done a better job with the weight distribution.
Nonetheless, the built quality is fairly decent but do keep in mind that few of the reviewers have observed out that screen does feel a bit wobbly if pressed hard so one should be careful about it.
The display on this device is decent, the screen is sharp while the color reproduction looks natural and viewing angles is also good. The phone legibility is also acceptable under the direct sunlight.

Battery Life: The battery life on this phone is average and will last the entire day on a single charge for moderate users. The phone comes with super fast charging technology as claimed by LeEco which charges the phone from 0%-50% in just 30 minutes.

Hardware Specifications: Le2 comes with the latest and advanced hardware specs. It uses the 652 Snapdragon chipset while processor used is the powerful Arm Cortex A72 and A53 series. The phone comes with 3 GB Ram which is sufficient for most of the users and lag free multi tasking is also possible on this device. Adreno 510 GPU is powerful enough to run most of the high end games but the device does tend to struggle in some of the graphic intensive games.
Le2 does not come with external storage support and internal storage provided is 32GB which is sufficient for most users.
An interesting thing about this device is that it does not support the 3.5 mm audio jack. The device comes with Continual Lossless Digital Audio (CLDA) technology which LeEco promises to enhance the audio output quality. Le2 provides an adapter in the box which may be used to connect your existing 3.5 mm earphones to USB C type port for listening to music. The speaker is adequately loud and sound quality is also quite good on this device.

Software and Features: The phone comes with latest Android OS but with customized skin on top. The EUI interface is slightly different which new users will take a bit of time to adjust. The EUI skin is a tad heavy too and uses a fair bit of memory. It also remains to seen as to time consumed by LeEco take to roll out future Android updates, if at all.
The phone comes with most of the specs found in almost all the modern era midrange smartphones. It has got all the sensors along with Infrared and Fingerprint Sensor. In terms of specs users don’t have any reason to complain about as it offers most of the features primarily used by any user.

Camera: It is one of weak link of this phone. The camera does take decent pictures under proper daylight but beings to struggle under artificial and low light conditions. The images contain a lot of noise and may look distorted at times. Even the video quality on this phone is average.

Service Support: LeEco is fairly new in the market and although they claim to have 550 service centers, it remains to be seen the type of service provided by them. Do note that since this service centers are mostly third party tie ups so they may consume considerable time in addressing the issues.

Overall Verdict: The device looks impressive with regard to hardware specs and the price quoted for the same. However, as many reviewers have pointed out that the device does suffer from quality control issue in terms of screen quality and also while gaming the phone does tend to struggle at times, even the camera quality is pretty mediocre.
Apart from the above mentioned shortcomings, the phone performs pretty well and for a basic users looking for a good overall phone this device could be a good buy.
