Asus recently launched the successor to their supremely successful Zenfone series which was launched last year. The phone is available exclusively through online retail store Flipkart. Zenfone II Series is available in various variant depending on the hardware specifications and price. Asus has priced the device very aggressively, the top end variant is available for Rs 30,000/- ( $ 500 approx) which sports 4 GB Ram and 128 GB of Internal storage. It uses the Intel Atom Quad Core Processor which is clocked at 2.3 Ghz.
The economical variant comes with 2 GB Ram along with 16 GB internal storage and the Intel Atom Quad Core processor is clocked at 1.8 Ghz. It has been priced at Rs 12,999/- ($ 215 approx). All the devices are 4G compatible.
All the variants come with 4G LTE support.
Asus will compete with likes of Xiaomi, Motorola and One Plus with this Zenfone II launch. Asus expects to increase its market share in the mid range segment with the launch of these series of handsets.

Let’s look at the reasons to buy this phone:-

Impressive Hardware Specifications and Build: The Asus Zenfone II emulates its predecessor in terms of build quality and looks. The phone is slightly on the heavier side and single hand use may not be possible on this phone but still the device does have a premium feel to it. The hardware on this device is also pretty impressive and does offer a great end user experience.
Users also have the option to chose the phone on the basis of Internal storage they will would prefer for themselves.
The economical variant of the series also performs very well and end users will be satisfied with the overall performance.
SAR value on this device is also pretty low.

Latest Android OS and Zen UI: The Zenfone II runs the latest Android OS with the Asus’s custom Zen UI running on top. The Zen UI is very good and offers a lot of features which are quite user friendly. The custom UI not only provides great user experience but is also very smooth and responsive.
Even while multitasking you won’t face any issues on this device. Game lovers will also have a very good experience using this device.

Reasonable Price and Impressive Performance: Zenfone II is priced very competitively and is a great value for money device. The device is very powerful and provides lag free experience.

Reasons to Avoid this device:-

Average Battery Life: Asus Zenfone II does perform incredibly well. However the battery life on this phone is not that great. Moderate users may just be able to last through the day on a single charge but heavy users will need to charge the phone twice.

Average Camera Performance: The camera performance on this phone is pretty mediocre and nothing as great as Asus had claimed it to be. However considering the price at which it has been launched one really cannot complain much.
The camera does capture decent shots under daylight but in artificial lighting conditions the weakness of the camera shows up.

After Sales Support: Asus after sales support is also something which one needs to be aware of as they do not have many service centers. Also not much is known about their after sales support.
I’m also not sure whether Asus will roll out consistent software upgrades for the phone like Xiaomi or other brands.

Overall Impressions

In my opinion Asus Zenfone II is a very good device for the price it is available. The specification available on the device is quite advanced and offers a great end user experience. The cons with this device are also not that grave and I don’t think it will deter buyers from trying out this device.
