Xiaomi has announced their latest phone in India, the Mi A1 which is an Android One device built in collaboration with Google. The USP of the phone is the rear Dual Camera setup which being projected as the flagship Android One dual camera phone. The phone will sold exclusively on Flipkart and MI India portal from 12th September,’17. The phone has been priced at Rs 14,999/- which is pretty reasonable considering the specs offered by Mi A1. The phone will also be available offline through Mi Home Stores and Mi Partner stores.

The phone resembles similar specs as to the one observed on Mi 5X which was recently launched in China.

Software

Mi A1 being an Android One device will provide pure Android experience with minimal pre installed apps and sleek feel to it. The phone is optimized for Google Services like Google Assistant and will deliver stock android experience to the end users. The phone is also expected to receive latest Android updates (including Android O and P).

The phone will come with Android Nougat OS out of the box.

Hardware

Coming to the hardware, The A1 sports the battery efficient Octa Core (2 Ghz) Snapdragon 625 chipset along with 4GB Ram and 64GB Storage. The phone comes with 5.5 inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla protection. The ergonomic design with thickness of around 7.3 mm is expected to provide great in hand feel. The finger print scanner is placed at the rear and Xiaomi has provided all the sensors including the IR Blaster with this phone.

The phone is available in Black, Rose Gold and Gold variant. The phone supports hybrid dual sim slot which may be used to expand the storage up to 128 GB. The phone weighs around 165 grams with 3080 mah battery which supports fast charging.

Camera

The rear camera comes with dual 12 megapixel sensors, one with wide angle lens with 1.25 micron sensor and f/2.2 aperture while the other is the telephoto lens with 1 micron sensor and f/2.6 aperture. Rear camera supports 2X optical zoom. The front camera is a 5 megapixel shooter. The camera is expected to click decent images in proper lighting conditions but may struggle in artificial or low light condition in my opinion. However, one needs to wait for the official launch of the phone to have a detailed look at the camera performance.

The phone does look impressive for the price and comes with stock Android experience for the users. Xiaomi and Google coming together for Android One initiative is great news for the Fans. This phone is expected to consolidate Xiaomi’s position even further in the Budget and Midrange Smartphone segment. Individuals who thus far had been ignoring Xiaomi devices for the MiUi interface will now seriously consider getting their hands on this device.
